War never stops in the eerie world of Doom and we’re back to the depths of Hell on a bloody demon hunt! Doom Eternal 2020 brings the legendary series to another level with all the new abilities and content that are out there for you to discover. There are new monsters, new weapons and new skills. But most importantly – a tremendously rich lore and a complicated story behind the brutal action.

Aside from a double jump, the hero now also has a double dash allowing him to overcome huge distances. This freedom inspires – you want to check every nook and cranny, explore every inch of the location. But the game quickly cools off your enthusiasm – there are abysses and invisible walls everywhere. Luckily, a fall won’t kill you, it will only decrease your health a bit. It’s also hardly unlikely to get lost: the 3D map is convenient even for GPS-hostile people and the needed direction is constantly illuminated with green.

The locations host caches where you can find cute decorative objects and soundtrack from the old games as well as useful stuff like weapon and costume upgrades. There is no shortage of them, so chances are high you will discover all the desired improvements long before the finale. However, unlike the older chapters, the game doesn’t end after you finish the campaign. You can return and keep exploring each of the levels, accomplish tasks to receive the coolest upgrades and collect all the pieces of history.

In Doom Eternal, behind-the-scenes monologues aren’t dedicated only to hell, but also to the details of the hero’s story and setting. The cut-scenes aren’t very long, but vibrant and numerous to keep you intrigued and wiling to learn more about what’s going on. After all, the events of the game are just a small part of the bigger picture that you can reconstruct based on the huge number of notes and bits of data.

Here the Doom universe has left the boundaries of Hell, Earth and Mars and expanded to include a multitude of worlds where your character has left his trace. But he isn’t much of a talker, so you’ll have to figure it all out from the local lore, surprisingly rich for a game of the kind. You don’t necessarily have to do all this research, nobody prevents you from skipping the cutscenes and keep playing in the good old way, slashing demons to please your murderous side. But the effort behind the backstory is definitely worth putting on record. See for yourself playing Doom Eternal 2020 online!
