Doom 4

Out of all Doom chapters, Doom 4 is probably the most brutal and bloody one. Here you won’t pose as a scared novice anymore. Your hero is a man of steel nerves and unbending will who is ready to plunge into battle from the very first seconds. He is crumbling skulls with bare hands, hammers demons to death with torn-off limbs, feeds Mancubus bowels to them as they are wiggling in mortal agony… And you can clearly see how he loves it.

Guns also come with a variety of spectacular effects. Rocket launcher blows up hordes of small demons and large immobile targets with an appetizing sound, but without experience, you can easily do the same to yourself. The double-barrel delivers tons of damage at close range and fires through after an upgrade. BFG only hosts three shells, but if you aim well, you can clear half of the map at once. As you can see, there is no shortage of options to turn any enemy into a pile of ash or a puddle of blood.

Gradually, you will unlock modules for all these weapons and earn points to improve them. For instance, you can ‘teach’ your shotgun to fire in bursts of three or add a turret mode to your Gauss gun allowing you to put down a Hell Knight in one shot. This doesn’t affect the gameplay much, but gives you more freedom of choosing your personal favorite way of handling the underworld invaders.

Another way to diversify the gameplay is powerups that you’ll occasionally find on the map. There are runes that allow you to run or shoot faster, deliver four times as much damage and so on.
