When we speak of Doom, there are two releases considered to be the golden classics of the series. Here you can enjoy one of them! Doom 2 chronologically continues the story of its predecessor. Hardened in battles with the legions of the underworld, the protagonist fights his way to Earth and finds out that he is late – hell erupted on his home planet, and monsters rage in the city streets wrecking havoc on everything built and created by humans.

Yes, this chapter takes the action to the surface, but it doesn’t make local landscapes any less terrifying than before. The maps are larger and the structure of levels is more complicated. Open spaces and multi-level stages have become a standard. Cunning combinations of portals, switches and keys are seen more commonly. Designers have also put a good job into lighting – dark rooms, indeed, feel darker than the always bright corridors of the first part. That adds a lot to the gloomy and disturbing atmosphere of the game.

Just like before, you’ll be slashing and firing your way through hordes of nasty demons. Some of them will be familiar to you from the original chapter, but there are also new types of enemies for you to defeat. Looking disgusting and scary, attacking unexpectedly and spawning in immense quantities, they will put your shooting skills – and nerves – to a real test. Luckily, there are also some extra ways for you to deal with them – like the highly effective double-barrel. Completing mission after mission, clearing spectacular locations and learning behavior patterns of the new monsters, you will come up with your own unique tactics to successfully handle the underworld scum and make sure your home planet stands a chance against the armies of hell!
